Woohoo! Another barge trip!

Last year I went on a barge trip with my family and their friends. It was the best holiday I have EVER had! I was made the “captain” of the boat and drove it all week while everyone else opened the lock for me to drive through! We started the trip at Riley Green in Lancashire and made our way through Wigan then up to Appley Bridge where we turned around and started our return trip. Even though the holiday was very tiring (lots of hard work on the barge!), it was very relaxed. Everyone worked as a team without fighting, and it was just great!

Well, we plan to go back again this year! This time my brother and his girlfriend will be joining us. We will make the trip around the same time as last year, August. It was very hot last year (I don’t think we had a day with rain), and the canal started to get a bit too shallow. The week after the holiday I heard on the news that 60 miles of the canal was shut to help get the water levels back up! I can’t wait, and hope this year is as good as last year!
