Trip to Reading!

I am off to Reading!

No, not the rock festival. I’m going to spend a few days at the end of the month with Harold, returning the visit he paid us last month.

Apart from seeing all the sights of Reading, we’ll go to London one day, visiting the big Apple Store in Regent Street and the London Eye and listening to a concert on the South Bank. The next day we’ll visit Oxford, where Harold was at college, and where he wants to meet up again with a lady friend called ‘Belgian Dora’ who has a stall in the covered market there. She sounds a nice lady.

The trip will be a great opportunity to sample the local eateries and compare them with the ones we have in the North East. Harold says the local places where he lives offer Chinese, Greek, Indian, Italian, Spanish and Thai food, as well as a swanky 5-star place serving up-market ‘British’ food, whatever that is.  We plan to try them all out. So there’ll soon be lots more stories in the Food section of the blog.

    Which stall does she run?

    • Harold Lewis says:

If it’s still there it’s a stall selling things made of rubber, leather and latex. I wish Jamie had not revealed my relationship with the lady. She must be getting on a bit now. Dora has a heart of gold, but people look down on her on account of her profession. I prefer to think of her as a ‘working lady’. That golden hair is all her own.
