The pond
“The pond” is my next project. I will be writing a log of this set up right from the start. The pond is a standard 60 l (13 imperial gallons or 15 US gallons). The reason for doing this project and logging it all is to help newbies to fish keeping understand how to properly set up a fish tank. I had when first setting up my first aquarium and I want to try stop others from having this experience. When setting up my first aquarium I went to Pets at Home for advice and to buy my equipment, the advice I received was totally wrong which lead to me killing around 15 fish! Imagine how many people go into stores like this and have the experience, them 15 fish soon add up to thousands if not millions! So, I decided to look on the web for advice from some experts. I came across a website called Tropical Fish Forums where I met Kat. Kat give me great advice, alongside as other members on the forum, in how to properly set up a fish tank. Because I already had fish, Kat and others advised that I would have to do a fish in cycle. However, this wasn’t recommended as it may still harm the fish, and you should always do a fish-less cycle. Without this advice I wouldn’t be keeping fish today.
This log is going to be running in parallel with a similar log, written by Kat. We will be setting up the tanks independently and aiming at different outcomes and results. The only similarity between the two logs will be that we both perform a fish-less cycle.
